Leeds Castle

Visit this picturesque Kent castle, owned at various times by six medieval Queens of England and later transformed by Henry VIII. Learn about the Castle’s strong connections to Virginia US, the royal visit of George III and how it overcame fire and civil war to be later redeveloped in the early 1800s.

The 1920s saw Leeds emerge as one of the leading country houses under the ownership of socialite and Anglo-American heiress Lady Baillie, attracting the glitterati of the day including film stars, European Royalty and leading statesmen. Wander around the sumptuous rooms of Lady Baillie’s apartments laid out by the leading Parisian designer Stephane Boudin, whose clients also included Jacqueline Kennedy and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

There are over 500 acres of parkland and formal garden to explore. Maybe take a punt on the river, experience a falconry display or get lost in the maze.
